The Water Street Naperville's Downtown and Riverwalk have long been held as prime examples of how a suburban community can invigorate its downtown for retail and pedestrian use. However, the south side of the river was never developed to the same extent. Naperville was looking for the re-development of several blocks on Water Street as an opportunity to increase activity and life to the "other" side of the river. The Hirsch Associates proposal envisioned a curving residential and retail mixed-use building along the edge of the river, including a landscaped riverwalk development, interactive water feature and redestrian connection to an existing bridge. The interior portion of the site would hold much needed public parking and addition mixed-use development.
