Hirsch Associates LLC Office While working on the total renovation of the loft office building, Hirsch Associates decided to re-do its offices to better fit its needs and ideas about interior space. Created out of low cost materials such as barn siding, exposed edge maple plywood panels and galvanized steel, the office is an open and inviting environment for both employees and visitors. A curved wall clad in barn siding leads to a galvanized industrial door on pivot hinges which provides access to the office and the circular reception desk. The center of this circle, above a logo wall of maple panels, was used as the starting point for radiating suspended wood panels and linear up-lighting. The suspended wood panels were used to define common areas such as the entry, reception, conference room and work area, while horizontal glass and steel partitions define private offices. Work stations were arranged linearly and of varying sizes to accommodate flexibility while still providing for order. Continuous soffits at 8’ above the floor separate the vertical walls from the exposed loft construction, providing a sense of scale to the office. The design won first place in the interior category of the Metal Architecture Magazine Design Awards in 2003.
