Halsted and Monroe Towers
Chicago, Illinois

The Halsted and Monroe Towers are a proposed mixed-use development of residential condominiums in two towers on a base containing retail, a health club, and parking. The design expresses directly thru it form, facade, and plan the desire to create a unique "green" community within an urban setting. Large terraces, providing communal landscaped gardens, are located throughout the facade, providing an iconic image in the skyline. Retail and a 3-story health club are located along Halsted Street, continuing the urban streetscape but in a modern vocabulary, while parking for both this development and the community is relegated to a secondary location. A large green roof deck provides amenities to the residents and a park-like setting continuing the "green" theme of the design. The two tower design maximizes units with corner views and the effect of the inset gardens for both the residents and the community.
