1590 N. Waukegan Road This retail project consists of two parts. The first was the renovation and addition to a vacant Osco Drug Store for a new Staples Office Supply store. The second was the addition of 16,500 sf of new multi-tenant retail immediately adjacent to Staples. The new retail façade was stepped back into three sections, each with its own variation in design and height, to break down the scale of the project and give individual tenants their own expression. A steel trellis on masonry piers provides a play of light and shadow and offers protection for an outdoor plaza. The center section features brick construction with dramatic arches, reflecting the design of Staples. A Fifth Third Bank outlot was planned as part of the project, allowing the retail addition to move forward.
