The Curtiss Block Redevelopment Downer's grove was looking for developers to tackle an infill site in their downtown, just off of Main Street and across from the train station. A new public parking garage had recently been completed, freeing up the former surface lots for re-development. Hirsch Associate's concept called for a new Market Square that would be the central public gathering space for the Downtown District, surrounded by mixed-use buildings. At the corner of Main Street, a large retail user was proposed to enhance the retail focus of Main Street and to serve as a visual gateway to the downtown. A re-developed alley, complete with outdoor retail stalls and activities, would connect Market Square to Main Street, providing a new image and use to a former service corridor.
